(Steven Felgate) #1

he blur of riders rounding the
Hallenstadion in Zürich, Switzerland,
set against the grid system of
tables, has an almost satisfying feel to the
chaos that usual six-day venues bring. Peter
Post (Netherlands) and Fritz Pfenninger
(Switzerland) took the honours with 330 points,
fresh from victory in the Brussels Six-Day
the previous week, beating the German team
of Klaus Bugdahl and Sigi Renz with 204
points. Post and Pfenninger went on to further
triumphs in Zürich as a duo the following two
years, before teaming up for a fourth success in
1970 with Swiss rider Erich Spahn.
Mark Cavendish and Iljo Keisse were the last
winners of the now defunct race, in 2014.
