e couldn’t havestarted 2018 muchbetter than we didagainst Ipswich on Tuesdayevening.Despite finding ourselves 1-down at half-time, it was quitea positive teamtalk at the break. The gaffer just told us he wantedmore of the same as we’d playedwell in the first half apart fromputting the ball in the back of thenet. We talked about not givingthem too many set-pieces asthey’d won a few wide free-kicksin the first half, which was sillyfrom us, and we’d been punishedfrom one of them. The red card for Jordan Spencewas obviously one of the maintalking points but I thought it wasthe correct decision. It was justa moment of madness from him,he saw red and lashed out - youcan’t do that. It changed the gamein that we could attack them evenmore and take more risks, but Ifelt we’d always been on top.Aboubakar Kamara now has fourgoals in his last two games andI’m delighted for him. No matterwhat league you play in and nomatter how good defenders are, ifyou’re a lot quicker and strongerthen it’s hard to stop. And therearen’t many quicker and strongerthan him! He’s now getting in goodpositions and, not only that, hisgeneral play has been excellentthese last few weeks. Hopefully hecan continue this run and keep usclimbing up the league. That’s four home wins in a rownow, which we’re really pleasedabout after struggling at theCottage in the early part of theseason. You aren’t going to doanything in any league unlessyour home form is good andwe’ve set ourselves up well for astrong 2018.We’re looking forward to facingPremier League opposition inSouthampton today. The FA Cupis always a special competitionand one of my favourites. Igot to a Quarter-Final Replayagainst Liverpool when I was atBlackburn in 2015 so I was onegame from Wembley.I think it’s good for the fans tosee a top-flight team come to theCottage and nice for us to measureourselves against very goodplayers. People say that the FACup isn’t Southampton’s prioritybut they could play a strong sidetoday in order to end their recentpoor run. They won’t want tolose to a lower-league team so I’mexpecting a tough match.Enjoy the game,Tom Cairney, Captain. The skipper is delighted with Fulham’s recent home form...THE CAPTAIN
