THE GARAGE / 360º GARAGE
Camera slide (far left)
‘I bought this for doing off the bike
stuff and it allows the camera to
pan consistently to give you an
arty static of the bike. To be honest
I haven’t really used it as it is too big
and bulky to take on the bike! Most
of my beautiful pans happen on
my driveway, which isn’t quite as
picturesque as a mountain road.’
Camera mounts
‘This is a rear camera mount that
bolts on to your back and gives a
really cool view of the ride. You look
like a bumper car, but the video is
good and very dynamic. I’m not sure
of its legality, and you wouldn’t want
to fall off while wearing it, but it is
good. The other bar is a ‘helicopter’
mount, which sits on your head and
spins while you ride. Again, it’s a bit
cumbersome but gets good results.’
Security (spot the camera)
‘When I’m vlogging and not moving on the bike I cover the
registration plate with a fake ‘Lamb Chop’ plate for security
reasons. Plus, my garage has a CCTV camera. It is a bit of a
worry as you are opening your garage up to the world when
you vlog, so I tend to try and keep my location secret.’
Helmets
‘Choosing the right lid is tricky when you vlog because you
need to get one with enough space to fit a mic. If your mouth
is too close it’s no good, so it needs room in the chin area. My
Shoei isn’t great for this, but the Icon is fantastic.’
Motocross armour
‘I’m a relatively recent convert to off-road and this is just
cheap kit I bought on eBay for about £50 as I wasn’t sure if
I’d like it. I’m slowly getting there, but I’m still a bit nervous
when the bike is moving around. The only issue is that I had
a KTM at that time, which I took greenlaning, and I bought
the armour to match that bike. In retrospect, orange was a
very silly colour to buy...’
Bicycle lift
‘This was cheap in Lidl
and it’s really good for
hanging fairings up and
out of the way to stop
them getting damaged.’
Wing mirror
‘This is from my old Blade and isn’t a vanity item! When
you attach cameras to yourself it’s really tricky to see if
they are recording, so I installed this mirror so I can look
for the red warning light before I head out for a ride!’
Shelving unit
‘My mate is a chippy and he built the shelving unit for me. It’s a great
bit of kit and has loads of storage space. The middle section is kept
nice and clean so I can do close-up videos of any kit. The only issue
is that I’m lacking a proper work bench, which is a bit annoying.’
Technical drawing
‘I did a video the other day explaining KTM’s TPI injection
two-stroke system, which is what this diagram is from. I’m
better with words than pictures...’
Sockets
‘I used to keep the bin under these, so I am missing a few due
to them falling into the bin and me not noticing! Most of my
tools are passed down from my dad, so I haven’t bought that
many. The one thing I did buy was a good torque wrench;
that’s absolutely essential garage equipment.’
