ony has renewed its commitment to the
APS-C sensor format by announcing a pair
of new models. The Alpha 6100 succeeds
the A6000; while the megapixel count stays the same,
at 24.2MP, performance gets a boost thanks to a new
Bionz X processor. Sony’s new Alpha 6600 may look
similar to the A6100, but it offers an uprated OLED rear
screen, better battery life and in-body stabilisation, as
well as the best video specifications in the A6xxx range.

Two new zoom options

T

he Japanese maker has also
launched two new lenses
for its APS-C cameras.
The E 16-55mm f/2.8 G is Sony’s first
constant-aperture fast lens for APS-C
cameras, but does without stabilisation.
Sibling lens the E 70-350mm f/4.5-6.3
G OSS offers optical stabilisation; its
effective focal length of 105-525mm
almost takes it into super-telephoto
territory but with a comparatively
modest f/4.5-6.3 aperture.
