Walking into the
huge lobby of The Westin Mumbai Garden City, Eugenia Belousova looks as
fresh as a daisy. Having recently shot campaigns for M·A·C India, Faces Canada
and Sabyasachi, she’s been living life in the fast lane. But the signs of her busy
schedule barely show on her. We wonder what the secret behind her radiant
appearance is, but not for long. Soaking in views of the city from the bright
Chairman Suite and sipping on a cup of green tea from Westin’s SuperFoodsRx
Menu, she gradually lets her guard down. Eyeing the massive Westin Heavenly
Bed that is uniquely designed with pillow-top construction for premium comfort,
the leggy model reveals that when she’s not travelling for her assignments, she
avoids going out and prefers to catch up on sleep. After a healthy breakfast, we
proceed to the swimming pool, Splash, which resembles a tropical lagoon. Here
she reveals that a detox isn’t limited to diet alone. She believes that while social
media is great for connectivity, overexposure can be detrimental. And that’s why
she suggests limiting access to social media accounts to just once or twice in a day.
Clearly, Eugenia is much more than just a pretty face...
What drove you to become a model?
I should thank my friends for my career in
modelling. I was 15 years old, listening to punk
rock, and had never considered modelling – even
remotely. But, life has its own plans. With the
encouragement of my friends and parents, I
enrolled with a modelling agency and was sent
to Moscow for a magazine shoot. I went there
with my mother because I had no idea about
what I was getting into, but, after the first
shoot, I realised I liked it, and could make a
career of it. I’ve been travelling for work
across Europe and Asia ever since.
And India?
I was in Beijing on a modelling assignment
when I met a friend who had been living in
India for a while. He suggested a visit to Mumbai.
