estled among Thailand’s
several lush islands and off the
eastern coast line, is Koh Kood,
the country’s fourth largest and least
populated and unspoiled island. Home
to a mind-boggling variety of flora and
fauna, it has a simplistic fishing village,
a glorious Buddha shrine and temple
and the luxurious Soneva Kiri resort,
my home for the weekend.
Getting there isn’t easy, but that’s
the beauty of it – you’re completely
disconnected from the outside world
and I appreciated the much needed
break from fellow humankind. I
took a flight out of New Delhi to
Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok.
Then, Soneva Kiri’s private plane flew
me to Koh Kood in a little over an hour.
From there I took a speedboat to the
Soneva dock and a quick golf cart ride
to my villa suite, accompanied by my
personal butler Ms. Friday.
My villa was a beautifully
designed space created with sustainable
materials – everything from the décor
to the linen is eco-friendly, and this is
one of my favourite things about the
property. I was treated to unobstructed

Once settled in, I made my way
to The Dining Room for a quick and
delicious Thai lunch while lounging
on a beach bed. Then it was time
for a walking tour of the resort. It’s a
