Lancaster Fleming is on a

secret mission to Jamaica. He

unearths this beautiful 15-acre piece of

land, buys it and renames it GoldenEye.

Cut to three decades later, when the

same Ian Fleming gives birth to the

dashing and suave British spy 007 and

writes all 14 thrilling books here.

Located in the small town of

Oracabessa near Ocho Rios on

Jamaica’s north coast, the boutique

property is spread over small forested

cliffs, a private beach and a lagoon. It is

designed in such a manner that you will

always feel as if you have the place to

yourself, even if it is fully booked.

Accommodation is offered in

villas, lagoon cottages and beach

huts and the interiors of the property

evoke Jamaican style and charm.

Painted in soft pastels, the rooms

have high ceilings with large, louvered

windows and let you take in the ocean

breeze unhindered. Fleming Villa,

of course, stands out. Hidden behind

tall trees in a lush garden, the villa has

five bedrooms, its own private beach,

a pool, gardens and a wet bar, and

dedicated resident staff.

Local flavours are in abundance

at the multiple restaurants here. You

can have a poolside breakfast at Bizot,

indulge in a barbecue at Bamboo Bar,

sip on a drink or two at Shabeen, or

savour Caribbean fare at The Gazebo.

For those who love the outdoors,

there’s swimming, snorkelling,

paddleboarding, kayaking and much

more to do at the property. And if

you have some pampering in mind,

FieldSpa is the place to be. Housed

in a cottage on the edge of the lagoon,

the spa offers massages, salt scrubs,

herbal wraps and facials in a serene

setting – some products used for

treatments are made using owers,

roots, leaves and herbs grown at the

property’s Pantrepant farm.
