visits to culturally strong deaf sites such as Gallaudet University (United States), deaf
studies departments of universities,^ and deaf federations in the nordic countries
empower young deaf individuals and should be included in school programs or be
sponsored by the government. All these factors contribute to the empowerment of
young deaf people and the deaf community; advocacy and information sharing will
also inform the majority society about deaf ways of life.
