for a year more (‘Divided
house’, July 15). Inclusion
of petroleum products in
GST will bring some relief.
But why is it taking time?
Th e Centre should be able
to convince the states and
pay them a higher com-
pensation for the defi cit in
revenue collection.
Nandu Kishore,
On email.
Brain of the coach
Th e rough and tumble of
football may give the feel-
ing that it is all brawn, but,
in reality, it is very diff erent
(‘Masters of the game’,
July 15). And what makes
brain come into play is the
coaches’ in-depth study of
the opponent’s game, the
manner in which they train
their boys to exploit any
chinks in the opponents’
armour, and the eff ective
substitution moves during
the course of the match.
Coaches have contrib-
uted a lot to the thrills and
spills of the FIFA World
Cup. In the dugout on the
sidelines, with the cameras
zooming and capturing all
their gesticulations and ex-
pressions, they may not be
a part of the game, but they
are certainly the masters of
the game.
Vijai Pant,

Stop it please
Your special report on Naga
outfi ts running extortion
rackets was informative
(‘Robbers of the revolution’,
July 15). Th e common man
in Nagaland is fi nding it
hard to lead a normal and
peaceful life due to threats
from greedy outfi ts that en-
gage in anti-India activities.
Th e Union and state
governments should
do everything possible
to prevent multiple tax
collections. Th e militants
are collecting money from
various sources, including
traders and businessmen.
It is a pity that the Na-
tional Socialist Council of
Nagaland (Isak-Muivah),
which signed a peace
accord with the Centre in
2015, is still raising money
for the fi ght against India.
It should not backstab us in
this manner.
K.S. Th ampi,
Chennai.
Th e Union government
should not talk to outfi ts
like the NSCN (IM) till they
stop harassing the people
in Nagaland. Th e state gov-
ernment has its limitations
in northeastern states. It
is the Union government
that is duty-bound to
warn these outfi ts to stop
extortion. Th ere is a lot of
talk of fi nishing extortion,
but nothing is happening at
the ground level. Why this
lethargy?
Vyom Prakash,
On email.
Pardon Sanjay
Sanjay Dutt will immensely
benefi t from Sanju (‘De-
tour’, July 15). Ranbir Ka-
poor deserves appreciation
for brilliantly portraying
Sanjay’s role.
Sanjay has committed a
few mistakes in his life and
he has been rightly pun-
ished for it. Now I am sure
all of us can pardon him.
Vikas Asthana,
