The Sony α9 is the very first mirrorless sports shooters
camera I’ve used in my career as a sports
and documentary photographer. With a
body weighing in at just 673 grams, it’s
small, light and easy to work with: I was
able to shoot for the entire day without
my arms feeling heavy – something any
photographer would be thankful for after
toting a full set of gear around for hours.
The autofocus on the α9 is superb. With
over 600 autofocus points, this camera’s
ability to track subjects is far superior to
any other. With the extremely precise
tracking, I was able to get shots of theplayers in action without compromising on
sharpness. No matter how quick the athletes
moved, the autofocus was able to lock on. The
α9’s electronic shutter allows for continuous
shooting at a speedy 20 frames per second,
