Concepts and products

that are changing the

rules of engagement in

the world of design

QR Code Jackets
While clothes tell a tale
about us, Julie Helles Erik-
sen has taken it to another
level with the QR code
woven jacket which uses
information from our social
media accounts to reveal
our mood. As the camera
phones are connected to
the jacket, QR codes reflect
our complex personalities.

3D Printed House
3D printing technology is cost-effective
and today, architects are using it to save
time and build real-life, liveable houses
with cement and carbon fibre.

Papier Maché
Japanese architect Kengo Kuma
has built a private museum using
sheets of wire-mesh etched on
paper. With screens creating the
interplay of light and shadow, the
texture and transparency is put
into effect by changing solutions
of mulberry and sunset hibiscus
in which this paper is soaked.

Negative
Space
Advertisers are now
creating contrasts
between the subject
and its background
to great effect. The
backdrop has been
brought to the
fore and the use of
negative space is a
big trend.
