via intravenously. T 2 -weighted MR images shown in Fig. 25(b) at
preinjection and after 10 mins. The intensity (641 before injection) at
the tumor site that decreased from 41% after 10 mins post injection,
might be related to the accumulation of MAu–NSs at the tumor area.
This MR imaging of Mau–NSs provided an evidence of good
biodistribution behavior. Furthermore, in vitro photothermal influ-
ence of Mau–NSs using NIR laser (irradiated under a 915 nm laser
(1.2 W/cm^2 ) for 300 s) was studied and temperature was increased
from about 23°C to 81.2°C at 24 mM gold concentration as men-
tioned in Fig. 25(c). After they obtained good results in vitro, nano-
flowers were further applied in vivo for potential effect of temperature
on tumor cells HeLa. Mau–NSs were injected intravenously into the
mice with a dose rate of 40.0 mg/kg of gold and then NIR irradiation
