Time Travel:
Bardhaman
A short bus ride away is the most well
known landmark in Bardhaman – Nawabhat’s
temple complex, home to 108 Shiva temples
in honour of Lord Shiva. Made in the Bengali
architectural style, these Atchala brick
temples form two concentric circles that
create a mesmerising vista. A good time
to visit would be during the bustling
Hindu festival of Maha Shivratri and the
mela (fair), which runs from mid-July to the
beginning of August.
For a relaxed day trip, journey to Silampur
Road in Panagarh where the locals enjoy
picnicking near the dam crossing the
Damodar river.
