Recently, on 5 August, some members of the
Hyderabad group of urban sketchers in India
joined a two-hour heritage walking trip to
the Public Gardens (Bagh-e-Aam), the oldest
park in the city, built in 1 84 6 by the monarch

Occasionally, the artists band together in
the objective documentation of signiicant
events. During the Hong Kong “Umbrella
Movement” in October 2014, for example,
members of the Urban Sketchers Hong
Kong as well as the now-defunct Sketcher
Kee groups camped out in areas such as
Admiralty, Causeway Bay and Mong Kok
to record the events as they unfolded – a la
“camera people”, but with pencil and paper.
