Alibaba’s store in Hong Kong has found a way to bridge
the gap between the joys of online shopping and the
inconvenience of not being able to try clothes on. FashionAI
was established together with students from the Hong Kong
Polytechnic University and features a bricks and mortar
store complete with inventory, AI mirrors and RFID racks.
While there are still shop assistants to help customers,
technology is the main focus. The mirror-screens display size
and colour options, suggest outfits and place them in a
virtual ‘cart’. Shop assistants will then locate the cart items
and have them in the dressing room, ready for the customer.
