Consumer Reports asks its members each year
about problems with their cars, minivans, SUVs, and
trucks. This year, CR’s Auto Reliability Survey—the
largest of its kind—gathered data on more than
500,000 vehicles. We analyzed 17 trouble areas (see
page 58) and created an overall reliability score for
each model year. Our predictions for the 2019

models are based on overall reliability for the past
three model years, provided the vehicle hasn’t
changed much. The charts here present a predicted
reliability score: 41-60 is average, 61-80 is better than
average, and 21-40 is worse than average. Predic-
tions for new and redesigned models or for those
that have limited data can be found on page 59.
