when gentle was announced as the
new editor of the Star in June, the newsroom
erupted in cheers. The first female editor-in-
chief in the paper’s 126-year history oversees
a large staff (23 report directly to her) and
bears the responsibility of managing the
most widely read newspaper in Ontario.
Under her leadership, the paper is pushing
for more hard news than ever, with a
renewed focus on local. up next: Gauging the
results of the Star’s new-old paywall, an
initiative that flopped the first time around.

Co-founder, First Studio City

When it opens, First Studio City in
Markham will feature North America’s
largest soundstage. Sicoli has already
secured $100 million in investments.

alex kurtzMan
Showrunner

Kurtzman is the new showrunner for
Star Trek: Discovery, which shoots at
Pinewood. His former projects include
Sleepy Hollow and Hawaii Five-O.

anDy Muschietti
Director

He directed It, which earned $896 mil-
lion worldwide. It: Chapter Two, starring
Jessica Chastain, filmed in Toronto
this summer.
