The rise of the woke sex party
Last year everyone predicted we would have a hot vax summer,
but this year is set to be the real deal. Yes, after all those months of
being locked down and zipped up, the sex-positive sex party has
arrived. Eschewing BDSM and fetish play for something more ...
thoughtful, events organisers such as the Fox Den (above) are holding
talks and workshops on topics including Japanese rope bondage and
polyamory. It’s about community as opposed to orgies (even though
full sex is still on the menu) and the Fox Den’s dinner party-styled
dos, where courses of homespun dishes like lasagne are interspersed
with “sexy” icebreaker games, are an example of that. “After spending
years in front of a computer screen and connecting with others on
Zoom, our members are craving real-world human interaction,” says
the party planner’s founder, Sinead Mac Manus. “And single people
are finding it increasingly difficult to meet people through the dating
and kink apps. The emphasis is on bringing people together to
connect.” Great, but can we pass on the lasagne, please?

Meet your new tachefluencer
(yes, it’s Mr Pringles)
Sorry, Monopoly guy, our current facial-hair inspo is Monsieur
Pringles, aka the chap with the hazy, lazy moustache on the side
of the crisp brand’s packaging. His Tales of the City-style tache
has clearly been on the mood board for the actor Dan Stevens’s
recent glow-up, Timothée Chalamet in The French Dispatch, Paul
Mescal’s top tache, plus all our faves at the Met Gala (the actors
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ashton Sanders, as well as Marcus
Mumford and, erm, Jessie Buckley). Best worn droopy and louchely.
