HOW THE TS1 LOST WEIGHT AND
GAINED SPEED
From clubhead to grip, the TS1 has
been strategically engineered and
weighted to deliver maximum launch
and distance at moderate swing
speeds:
- At 275-gram overall weight,
depending on the shaft, the TS1
is Titleist’s lightest driver ever. it is
an incredible 45 grams lighter than
the TS2 model, with an 8-gram
lighter head weight, and this helps
generates faster clubhead speeds. - The Fujikura Air Speeder stock shaft
weighs in at an ultra-lightweight 40
grams, with a club length of 45.75
inches. The combination of high
launch and mid-high spin delivers
effortless distance. - An extremely light 32-gram Golf
Pride Tour Velvet 360 Lite grip is
20 grams lighter than the standard
model.
For the uninitiated, a moderate swing
speed equates to 85mph and below,
or an average of 200m or less with the
driver, for which the usual mantra of
high launch, low spin equating to more
distance, doesn’t hold true. Quite the
opposite, the TS1 is designed to depart
slightly from the push for lower and lower
spin drivers by yielding both high launch
and a little extra spin that helps the ball
stay in the air longer for better carry
distance.
“What separates TS1 from other
competitive lightweight products is
that we haven’t had to make sacrifices,
particularly with MOI and adjustability,”
shared Stephanie Luttrell, Director,
Metalwoods Development, Titleist Golf
Club R&D. “Everything about TS1, from
the technology package to the tour-
inspired look, sound and feel, makes this
a TS driver and delivers on the promise of
Titleist Speed.”
The new Titleist TS1 drivers will be
available in lofts of 9.5 (RH), 10.5 (RH/
LH), 12.5 (RH).
