FEEL THE STRETCH
Rory’s move is an athletic one, and to train it you need to adopt an athletic
approach. So invest in a rubber resistance band, widely and cheaply available.

RORY’S MOVE
BAND WIDTH
From here you are simply going to push the band
forwards and up to increase the stretch. This is
effectively the same move Rory is making. As you
experiment with this, you will begin to feel how
pushing down through your lead leg helps you
increase the stretch in the band.
STRETCH POWER
Loop it around your trail foot and grip the other
end like a golf club as shown, shortening the
band to increase the resistance.
POWER MOVE
Make this band work a
regular part of your
practice and/or warm-up
routines. It will help you
develop the strength and
athleticism Rory uses to
propel the ball so high and
so far. Without the band,
work on the same feelings
of your lead leg
straightening and hip
rising to push the hands
up and through.
