160 ■ II: ROLES FOR DOCTORAL ADVANCED NURSING PRACTICE

positive consequence could be that large, efficient interprofessional coalitions are cre-
ated to teach more students with better-prepared faculty. The authors rightfully point
to uncertainty found in recent AACN and NONPF documents about a date for APRN
programs to be at the doctoral level. In my view, that date should be set with transitional
supports as needed.
The authors of Chapter 5 have courageously undertaken topics that are still con-
troversial and have provided reasonable questions or solutions. My comments are a
reflection of my perspectives and are intended to complement the work to date.
