took some time, but it did make for
a better fit. I now painted the oleos
AK477 Chrome and tyre rims were
AK3025 Green. All the undercarriage
parts were then washed with
AK070 Panel Line Wash to lift out
the moulded detail. I now set the
landing gear aside and added more
colour onto the airframe. I panted
the anti-glare and underside panels
flat AK799 NATO Black, and the
radome and stabiliser leading edges
AK 3145 Medium Grey. The decals
were thin, in register, and worked
well with proprietary softeners. I
now added an oil wash to give the
panel lines a subdued accent, and
nothing too contrasting. I varied
the tones with various mixes of
AK Interactive Medium Grey and
Dark Grey Panel Line Washes.
All the small pieces were
up next, which included the
wheels, various probes,
and blade antennas, before
I added the large exhaust cans.
These were painted separately with
AK 484 Burnt Metal and AK486
Jet Exhaust, for easing painting.
The interiors were given burnt out
effects with streaks of using a buff
shade, lighted with flat white The
kit provided a generous amount of
weapons, with four sets of R-33,
R-40, R-60, R-73, and R-77 plus
a pair of underwing drop tanks.
I installed them last and figured
an asymmetric load would be
interesting, though it might be
completely bogus. I then sprayed
the entire model with a coat of AK
Matt for the final flat finish. All the
masking was then taken off, and
the solid navigation lights were
painted in with clear red and green.
This kit was a bit of a
challenge, but if you are like
me, it will provide you with a
great platform to exercise and
sharpen your modelling skills.
The engine exhausts were painted with AK 484 Burnt Metal and AK486 Jet Exhaust
The cockpit had some very nice raised details and construction was a pleasure.... .... And AK677 Panel Line Wash brought out the details
