  1. Using marked solid white squares
    and 12 solid dark turquoise 2^7 ⁄ 8 "
    squares, repeat Step 2 to make 24
    dark turquoise triangle-squares
    (Diagram 3).


Assemble Flying Geese Units


  1. Use a pencil to mark a diagonal
    line on wrong side of each remaining
    solid white and solid dark turquoise
    27 ⁄ 8 " square and each solid light
    orange 2^7 ⁄ 8 " square.

  2. Referring to Diagram 4, align
    two marked solid white squares with
    opposite corners of a solid light
    orange 5^1 ⁄ 4 " square. Sew a scant^1 ⁄ 4 "
    from drawn lines on both sides of
    lines. Cut apart on drawn lines to
    make two triangle units (Diagram 5).
    Press triangle units open.

  3. Referring to Diagram 6, align a
    marked solid white square with solid
    light orange corner of a triangle unit.
    Sew a scant^1 ⁄ 4 " from each side of
    drawn line; cut apart on drawn line
    (Diagram 7). Press white triangles
    open to make two Flying Geese A
    units. Each unit should be 4^1 ⁄ 2 × 21 ⁄ 2 "
    including seam allowances. Repeat
    with remaining triangle unit to make
    two additional Flying Geese A units.
    4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to make 64
    Flying Geese A units total.
    5. Referring to Diagram 8, repeat
    steps 2 and 3 using remaining marked
    solid white squares and solid 5^1 ⁄ 4 "
    squares in colors indicated to make:

    • light coral: 64 Flying Geese B units

    • light yellow: 24 Flying Geese C units

    • red: 48 Flying Geese D units
      6. Using marked solid dark
      turquoise squares and solid dark
      yellow 5^1 ⁄ 4 " squares, repeat steps 2
      and 3 to make 36 Flying Geese
      E units (Diagram 9).
      7. Using marked solid dark turquoise
      squares and solid white 5^1 ⁄ 4 " squares,
      repeat steps 2 and 3 to make 24
      Flying Geese F units (Diagram 10).
      8. Using marked solid light orange
      squares and remaining solid white
      51 ⁄ 4 " squares, repeat steps 2 and 3
      to make 12 Flying Geese G units
      (Diagram 11).
