WWW.ASTRONOMY.COM 71- THE MARCH OF TIME
In the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest
in California, the oldest trees are
more than 5,000 years old. This scene
captures an iconic — and still living —
bristlecone pine silhouetted against
the Milky Way’s core. The so-called
Galactic Dark Horse looms just to
the right of the tree. Starlight softly
illuminates the tree’s details, which
have formed over thousands of years.
