24 CHAPTER 1: Setting Up Your Android App Development System
When the Pencil home page appears, click on the orange download button
and download the 22MB executable file, which should be named something
like Pencil-2.0.5.win32.installer.exe (also shown in Figure 1-5).
- Once the download is complete, launch the installer EXE, and when it is
finished, right-click on the icon or executable file and select the Pin to
Taskbar option to create the quick launch icon shortcut for the software.
Next, we will install your digital audio and engineering software package.
Digital Audio Editing and Engineering: Audacity
The Audacity project is hosted on sourceforge.net, an open source software development web
site, which you might find extremely interesting to search for software that interests you (if you didn’t
know about the site already, that is)!

Note We will be using Audacity later on in the book, to add sound effects to your Android UI element
objects, such as your Buttons and ImageButton objects.
To reach the Audacity project, go to the audacity.sourceforge.net URL and
you will see a Download Audacity 2.0.5 link, shown in Figure 1-16.
