CHAPTER 11: Digital Video: Streaming Video, MediaPlayer, and MediaController classes 425
- Once you have set all of your parameters for the render, click the Render
Sequence button, which will instruct Terragen to generate 400 frames of
custom digital video fly-over for you. Since Terragen outputs numbered files
instead of the AVI format that Sorenson Squeeze requires, we will need to
learn about a cool software utility called VirtualDub next, so that we can
generate an uncompressed AVI file.
Creating an Uncompressed AVI File: VirtualDub
The next software package we will need to use is VirtualDub 1.9, which will take the 400 frames we
created in Terragen3 and load them into an AVI file format. Then we can import the AVI in Squeeze
for our compression work process.
- Download and install VirtualDub and launch it. You will see the empty screen,
shown in Figure 11-17. Use a Video ➤ Compression menu sequence to set
compression for the resulting file to Uncompressed.
Figure 11-17. Launch VirtualDub and use the Video ➤ Compression menu sequence to open the compression dialog
- Use the Frame Rate, Color Depth, and Select Range menu items, and set
these compression parameters to be 10 FPS, 24-bit color, and 0 to 400,
respectively, as is shown in the series of dialogs in Figure 11-18.
