CHAPTER 2: Configuring Your Android App Development System 45

Figure 2-14. Create AVD dialog with Nexus One settings

  1. The AVD Name and Device fields will be filled out for you by Eclipse, so first
select the latest OS version as your Target using the drop-down selector UI
element. This was Android 4.4.2 at the time of writing this book, which is
API Level 19, and is shown selected in Figure 2-14. The current Android 4.4
revision is at 4.4.4 at the time this book’s publication.

  2. Leave the Keyboard and the Skin options selected, since you have a
keyboard and want an emulator skin on your AVD. A “skin” is a customized
UI design that mimics the real AHD.

  3. In the Memory Options areas, leave the default 512 MB of RAM and 32 MB
VM (Virtual Memory) Heap and use an Internal Storage value of 200 MB.
Since we are not using an SD Card, we can leave that blank. Finally, select
the Snapshot Emulation Option and then click the OK Button.
