CHAPTER 16: The Future of Android: The 64-Bit Android 5.0 OS 607
Since Android Studio 0.8.2 came out as I was writing this chapter, I will show you how the update
process works. But first, I will show you how to install Android Studio and take a tour of some of
its features, as well as show you how to create a New Android Application Project using the new
Android Studio IDE.
First, scroll all the way down to the bottom of the Android Studio page and take a look at the
Revisions section of the page, which lists all of the revisions of Android Studio, from 0.1.0 in May of
2013 through the current version 0.8.0 released more than a year later. Extrapolating from the three
months per version timeline, version 0.9.0 should come out in September 2014 (Q3), and
Version 1.0.0 should come out sometime around the end of 2014 (Q4).

Downloading and Installing Android Studio
I have a particular work process for downloading software, since I use a lot of open source software.
I install this software across a number of different production workstations, since it is free and I am
allowed to use it on as many different systems as I wish.
