Notice that the left side of the Choose Packages to Install dialog will show you which of the selected
packages can be installed (green checkmark) and have no dependencies, and which ones are
dependent on other SDK or API packages that need to be installed first (green checkmark with a
red X next to it). If you see this red X, you will be doing more than one round of updates and, as you
have seen before and are seeing here, updating your IDE (in this case an IDEA) is not always a
one-shot endeavor.


Once you click the Install button, you will be taken back to the Android SDK Manager and again
see the progress bar at the bottom, which will show you the installation progress as well as what is
being downloaded, the revision, the percentage completed, the bandwidth speed, and the estimated
amount of time left for that particular package to download. As you can see, my new ViaSat Exede
Internet Satellite system is quite fast!

Everything was going along very smoothly when suddenly the Android SDK Manager Log and an
error dialog popped up on the screen, and my entire smooth update world fell apart. I clicked Yes
(trying again to create that folder) several times, knowing in the depths of my soul that Windows 7
