- Referring to Diagram 2, sew four
assorted red print 1×8" inner border
strips to center unit. Press seams
toward inner border strips. Trim excess
strips even with center unit edges. - Add remaining red print 1×8" inner
border strips to remaining edges of
center unit (Diagram 3). Press and
trim as before. - Sew together a green print and an
aqua print 2^3 ⁄ 4 ×6" rectangle to make
an outer border strip (Diagram 4).
Press seam in one direction. The strip
should be 2^3 ⁄ 4 × 111 ⁄ 2 " including seam
allowances. Repeat to make eight outer
border strips total.
From assorted light prints, cut:
▫ 2—4^7 ⁄ 8 " squares, cutting each in
half diagonally for 4 triangles
total
▫ 5—4^1 ⁄ 2 " squares
From assorted red prints, cut:
▫ 8—1×8" inner border strips
From assorted green prints and aqua
prints, cut:
▫ 16—2^3 ⁄ 4 ×6" rectangles
From assorted red, olive green, and
aqua wools, cut:
▫ 4 of Mitten Pattern
▫ 1 of Mitten Pattern reversed
From red tone-on-tone, cut:
▫ Enough 2^1 ⁄ 2 "-wide bias strips to
total 130" for binding and ties

ASSEMBLE TREE SKIRT TOP
Measurements include^1 ⁄ 4 " seam
allowances. Sew with right sides
together unless otherwise stated.
- Referring to Diagram 1, lay out
light print triangles and 4^1 ⁄ 2 " squares
in three rows. Sew together pieces in
rows. Press seams in one direction,
alternating direction with each row.
Join rows to make center unit; press
seams in one direction.
5. Join four outer border strips to long
edges of center unit, centering seams
(Diagram 5). Press seams toward
outer border strips. Trim excess strips
even with edges of inner border. Add
remaining outer border strips to
remaining edges, press, and trim to
make tree skirt top (Diagram 6).
