Any sensible gamer
should run a mile at the
thought of buying the
Xbox Project Scorpio.
It’s going to be ridiculously
expensive, and for the moment at least,
only a handful of games will support its
Ultra HD resolution.
Yet I very much want one. And that’s
not just because, with the specs now
confirmed by Eurogamer – eight 2.3GHz
processor cores and a six-teraflop
graphics processor – it’s going to be
the first proper 4K console.
For all its hype and bluster, the PS4
Pro has proved a confusing machine
when it comes to UHD performance.
Some games look glorious on it; some
look exactly the same as before.
Project Scorpio promises to do away
with any such confusion. Being an even
more powerful machine, and thanks to

Microsoft’s commitment to its back
catalogue, those classic Xbox One
games will play smoother and load
faster. In theory, then, the Scorpio
could eat your PS4 Pro for breakfast.
But then there’s the all-important
question of new games...
There’ll probably be a new, initially
exclusive Tomb Raider announced at E3,
and Forza Motorsport 7 will likely pop
up and be gorgeous... but we’re craving
something mind-blowing. Like, say, Red
Dead Redemption 2. The prospect of
diving back into that rootin’ and tootin’
world, in highest possible quality,
is making me as giddy as the town’s
coffin-maker at ten to high noon.

IN THEORY, THE
SCORPIO COULD
EAT YOUR PS4 PRO
FOR BREAKFAST

PURE CYCLES VOLTA

There’s a motor hidden within the rear hub and a battery contained
within the frame. Whether you get it with single-speed belt drive
or classic gears-and-chain spec, there’s 40 miles of blissful
assistance in this iron horse. But Pure Cycles says that, by its
minimalist frame design and by not going for one of the big crank
motors, the Volta weighs only about 16kg. A bit heavier than a
normal bike, but you could get it up a flight of stairs. Maybe two,
if you haven’t filled up that handy forward-facing beer basket.

CASIO PRO TREK WSDF20S

We were impressed by our first hands-on with the standard Casio Pro
Trek WSD-F20 back in January, as the sporty watch packed GPS and all
the benefits of Android Wear 2.0. Now Casio is back with a limited-edition
model that makes an even better first impression. The Pro Trek
WSD-F20S (mind the ‘S’ at the end) swaps in a sleek black and blue
aesthetic, complete with sapphire glass and ion-plated hardware.
Otherwise, it’s exactly the same on the inside, which is no complaint. Only
500 will be made, so this could be a tough one to snag for your wrist.
