King Superior and King Executive rooms

offer the best views with very large windows

on the fourth  oor. The doubled-glazed

windows do not open and are at a slight angle

to the action. The sun moves behind the hotel

as it arcs across the sky so the lighting is ideal

for photography for a large part of the day.

Air/Flybe ATR 42s and ATR 72s and

during the summer they are joined by Volotea

Airlines’ weekly Boeing 717 service to Palma.

From May 16, Sea Air was due to begin a

daily service to Munich, and to Osijek in

Croatia (via the German city) on Thursdays

and Sundays. The  ights will be operated by

a Maleth-Aero Boeing 737.

There are, however, cargo  ights and

interesting aircraft arriving for painting and

maintenance with In ite and Air Livery as well

as bizjets. Passenger numbers were down

slightly last year to 901,424 from 1,102,544 in

2014. You can also see Southend’s resident
      Avro Vulcan B.2 XL426 near the end of the
      Runway 23 just past the new terminal.
      In 2013 the hotel was awarded the Venue
      Verdict Gold Standard Highly Commended
      Accreditation – a top award in the hotel
      business.
      The Holiday Inn Southend is a great place
      to stay with panoramic views across the
      airport and photographic opportunities.
