HIS Opening Shot is the work of master
photographer Justin de Reuck.
Justin attended the 2017 AirVenture
at Oshkosh as SA Flyer’s photojournalist.
He took thousands of pictures, but this
one is truly exceptional in that he was
not afraid of the challenges of a carefully conceived and
set up night shot.
The first-time presence of the newly restored and
gleaming B29 ‘Doc’ was a highlight of the massive
airshow and Justin used it as the backdrop for Gene
Soucy’s sparkling night aerobatics routine – both
perfectly captured with a very long and perfectly judged
150 second shutter speed.
Justin used his Canon sponsored EOS-1DX with a
Canon EF 17-40 mm at 17 mm and a Manfrotto tripod.
