HighFlyer
BA CityFlyer was formed in 2007 after the sale of British Airways’ regional business, BA
Connect, to Flybe in March 2007. The subsidiary has since grown
into a strong and profitable carrier with an expanding
network of business and leisure destinations.

ritish Airways’ regional
offshoots stretch back to
1994 when Manx Airlines
Europe became a franchise
partner, changing its name
in 1996 to British Regional Airlines.
Alongside its headquarters near
Manchester, it operated bases
at Belfast, Glasgow, Cardiff,
Southampton, Edinburgh and
Inverness using a mixed fleet of
Embraer ERJ135 and 145, BAe ATP,
Jetstream 41 and 146-200 aircraft.
This was supplemented by four ATR
72 turboprops leased from KLM uk.
In 2003 British Regional Airlines was
purchased outright, along with Manx
BA CityFlyer celebrated
its tenth anniversary
in 2017 with an
expansion of its
regional operations.
