AFTER ACTION REPORT AI500: OPERATION NUKE TOWN 2018
DAY ONE
The teams were set and the missions
issued and so began the first
deployment by both teams into the
heart of NUKETOWN. Tasked with
retrieving the first objectives, the
team’s relevant ammo crates, it
was a simple enough mission or so
you would think but waiting in the
wings to disrupt the advance was
a secret security force left behind
when the base was abandoned. Both
the Tans and Greens were sent into
the fray armed only with pistols
and shotguns but came face to face
with a more prepared security team
with automatic weapons. The BBs
flew fiercely between the teams
and the advancement was slow for
both as the security force put on a
truly good show and made players
work for their objectives. Slowly
but surely the security force started
to fall and ground was gained but
it was the Tans that managed to
capitalise first and retrieved their
ammo crate. Returning to their CP
the Tans were able to redeploy with
whatever amourments they had and
took the fight to the Greens with
such gusto the Greens seemed to be
in a state of shock as the Tans came
out fighting with a fire in their belly
and purpose of revenge for past
loses - this put the Greens on the
back foot straight away.
The Greens didn’t give up though,
shear aggression and determination
saw them fight through wave after
wave of Tans and eventually they
too managed to secure the required
ammo crate and gain the weapons
they needed. After the Greens had
regrouped both teams were tasked
with the next mission, this was to
located and return the 3x mortar
rounds they needed to unleash
a barrage of gas to clear out a
designated target. Once again the
Tans were quick to fight through
the lines of attacking Green players
trying to find the mortar rounds
they also needed and this increased
the lead they had over the Green
team. After they had secured their
rounds they applied the pressure
on the Greens but through sheer
determination the Green team
finally found the elusive rounds
and presented them to their team
commander giving him another
option to try to overcome the more
aggressive Tan fighters and this took
us into the long awaited and much
needed break.
As the sun beat down players
made their way back to the safe
zone for food and refreshments
and this gave the commanders and
2ICs some time to get their plans
ready for the afternoon and try to
get the better of their opposition.
After lunch and the teams had once
again gone to their spawn points,
everybody was eager to get going
and aggression from both sides was
evident and exciting to see. The call
for game on was called and once
more the Tans came out with only
one thing on their mind, suppress
the Greens. But the Greens had
other ideas and forced the Tans to
slow their advance in one of the
best fire fights I have seen! This
took place around the scrapped cars
placed in the centre of the site. Wave
after wave of Tan and Green players
kept locking horns in the fight over
control of the ‘Scrap Yard’ and this
control swayed from team to team
until the Green commander called
in his first mortar strike. Clearing
the area of Tan players the scrap
yard was theirs for the taking and it
seemed as though the Greens would
take control and lock the Tans into
the tight confines of the buildings.
But there was nothing from the
Green players... no advance no call
to move up - nothing.
