Refreshed Anson

Shuttleworth Debut
BAE Systems Heritage Flight’s
Avro XIX G-AHKX made its post
refurbishment public debut at
the Shuttleworth Collection’s
opening show of the season,
which took place at Old Warden
on May 6. The twin-engined
classic was repainted over
the winter by RGV Aviation at
Gloucestershire Airport and
now represents Anson C.19
TX176, a 1946-built former RAF
Coningsby station ight aircraft.
The crowds at the RAF100
themed event saw ‘TX176’ y with
the Battle of Britain Memorial
Flight’s Avro Lancaster, and then
alongside the Aircraft Restoration
Company’s Bristol Blenheim, as
well as giving a solo display.

AIRSHOW NEWS

Excellent weather and an impressive line-
up of display aircraft meant that Duxford’s
two-day Air Festival was a big success,
and attracted good visitor numbers. Held
over the weekend of May 26 and 27, the
show had a strong French avour, with the

Alpha Jet-equipped Patrouille de France
aerobatic team performing on one day, and
the Armée de l’Air’s Dassault Rafale ying

on both. Another highlight was a rare UK
appearance by former Swiss Air Force F+W
C-3605 ‘Schlepp’ C-509 (HB-RDH). Its
spirited display won’t be forgotten in a hurry.
Duxford’s next major show, Flying Legends,
is scheduled for July 14-15.
