Three people on board this
helicopter were slightly injured
when it force-landed in the Valle
de los Ríos Apurímac, Ene y
Mantaro (VRAEM) area at around
1620hrs. It was on a flight from
the Canayre district to Mazamari
when a bird strike shut down
the engines, forcing the crew
to make an emergency landing
near the town of Canayre.

Training Wing

During a training flight from
Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas,
the aircraft crashed at around
1600hrs and caught fire. It
was about 14 miles (22.5km)
northwest of the base, near Spur
454 and US 90, close to Lake
Amistad in Val Verde County,
north-northwest of Del Rio. One
pilot, Captain Paul J Barbour


  • the aircrew flight equipment
    flight commander with the 47th
    Operations Support Squadron
    and an instructor pilot with the
    87th Flying Training Squadron

  • was killed. The other, Capt
    Joshua Hammervold, an
    instructor pilot for the 87th FTS,
    ejected, but was injured – he
    was taken to Val Verde Regional
    Medical Center, and released the
    following day in good condition.

Following a technical malfunction
shortly after take-off, this UAV
crashed at 1025hrs north of
the naval airfield at Kochi,
Wellington Island, Kerala.

Crew members Major Ali Mustafa
and Captain Sulaiman Yunes
were both killed when this
aircraft crashed on approach
to land at Deir ez-Zor air base
after being hit by ground fire.

the aircraft carrier USS Ronald

Reagan (CVN 76), the aircraft
encountered a technical problem
and the pilot was forced to ditch
in the ocean southeast of Okinawa
at around 1445hrs local time.
Eight of the 11 on board were
safely rescued at 1523hrs but the
search for the remaining three
was suspended on November 24
and they are presumed dead.

The pilot ejected safely after a
technical malfunction shortly
after take-off from Hakimpet
Air Force Station, Hyderabad.
The Kiran crashed at Siddipet,
Telangana. The pilot was taken
to hospital with minor injuries.

While ground running at
Stavanger-Sola flystasjon (air
station), the helicopter flipped
over onto its side, for reasons yet
undetermined. There were no
injuries reported to the two crew
on board and three technical

personnel standing nearby, but
the helicopter, which had only
been delivered on November 17,
was extensively damaged (see
also Continental Europe, p10).

Fumigating illicit poppy plantation
activities, this helicopter crashed
at around 1030hrs, 18 miles
(29km) northwest of Chilpancingo,
Guerrero state, killing the pilot.

N: Syrian Arab Air Force
T: Mi-14
Syrian Mount Hermon rebels
reportedly downed this helicopter
in southwestern Syria with a 9K38
Igla missile system, killing three
officers – Colonel Mohammed
Saqr, Colonel Kemal Ibrahim and
Major Kemal Ali Hassan. The
Mi-14 came down near the village
of Beit Jinn, western Ghouta,
close to the border with Lebanon.
