T

he loudest celebration of the North American airshow season will take place during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh at the end of July: an

enormous gathering of North American T-6s/SNJs/Harvards and related derivatives to mark the legendary trainer’s 80th anniversary.

Being led by the North American Trainer Association, the meet is bound to be a highlight of the world’s biggest aviation event. British

visitors to Oshkosh will doubtless feel a pang of nostalgia at the appearance of Meteor T.7 WA591, now in the hands of the World Heritage

Air Museum in Detroit. It will be joined by the same collection’s Vampire T.55 and Venom, and a significant number of other classic jets.

Elsewhere, several venues will again see both the world’s airworthy B-29 Superfortresses, Fifi and Doc, attending together when their tour

dates coincide, while the Flying Heritage and Combat Armor Museum’s regular flying days and Skyfest will present some of the choicest

historic aircraft to be seen in the skies anywhere.
