In the next issue of FlyPast our Spotlight falls on a pair of closely related World War Two aircraft, the
Bell P-39 Airacobra and P-63 Kingcobra. The former scored the highest number of ‘kills’ attributed
to any US fi ghter in the Eastern European theatre. The January 2019 issue will be in UK shops on
December 1, 2018, or see page 86 for our latest money-saving subscription offers.

106 FLYPAST December 2018

Sqn Ldr Chris Heames
completed the fi rst public taxi
run in The Heritage Aircraft
Trust Gnat Display Team’s
Folland Gnat F.1 G-SLYR on
September 29. The ground
run was a highlight of the
inaugural Jetfest at North
Weald, Essex. Built in 1967
by Indian manufacturer
Hindustan, the jet’s civil
registration is a contraction
of ‘Sabre Slayer’, a nickname
given to the type in Indian Air
