Under the bonnet, Shannon has done a few things to get the
1KD to sing, but hasn’t gone overboard. “I haven’t done any
internal mods to the engine, but I’ve added a bunch of upgrades
to help her run a bit better”, explains Shannon. “I added a HKS
Diesel F-CON iD piggyback ECU and a 3in Manta exhaust with a
hi-fl ow cat, as well as a PSICO front mount intercooler. I
decided on a TJM Snorkel as I liked the look of how they sit on
the guard. The boys at Doctor Diesel in Chipping Norton tuned
the vehicle for me, and she is running 748Nm and 172Kw of
power.” Yep, this HiLux has got some go about her!
Suspension wise, Shannon is running a 3in lift up the front
with a set of Bilstein shocks and Caloffroad springs and a set
of 10mm spacers. To get the CVs at a happier angle, Shannon
has also installed a 30mm Caloffroad diff drop. In the rear is a
set of 3in 600kg constant load springs and Bilstein Shocks,
and Shannon has added a set of Polyair Airbags to help with
the load of the canopy. “This is my second set of suspension
and im very happy with it”, comments Shannon. “when she’s
fully loaded up she’s quite heavy and towing the boat as well
the suspension handles it well.”

YEP, THIS HILUX HAS GOT SOME GO!
A real nice way to mount a solar panel. It
helps defl ect wind over the tent to reduce
drag, and can be easily aimed at the sun.
