WARNING SIGNS OF A

FAILING COMMON-RAIL MOTOR

Are there any warning signs that 4WDers can look out for when
their vehicles start getting up in the kays that may indicate major
engine or fuel system work is on the cards? Mitch from MTQ
Engine Systems weighs in on the topic.
“Most faults begin as small issues, but soon manifest
themselves into larger problems given time. As always, regular
maintenance is key to trouble free operation, but if you notice
performance issues, smoke from the exhaust or the engine check
light on or fl ickering, discuss these concerns with your reputable
Service Technician without delay.”

HOW MANY KAYS CAN YOU

EXPECT FROM A COMMON-RAIL MOTOR

BEFORE MAJOR WORK IS NEEDED?
How long is a piece of string? It all depends on how well that piece of
string has been looked after, says Mitch from MTQ Engine Systems.
“The average kays will differ for every vehicle depending on
environment, usage, service history, quality of fuels etc. We have seen
many Common-Rail vehicle with high kms that have been maintained
well and have had just your normal wear and tear but no major
failures. Service and maintenance is everything with all vehicles if you
want reliable trouble free motoring.”

EXTENDING THE LIFE OF

YOUR COMMON-RAIL MOTOR
Andrew from Diesel Care has some simple tips that all 4WDers
can follow if they want to extend the life of their modern engine
as long as possible.
“Maintenance, maintenance, maintenance!” Andrew says.
“Tender loving care will defi nitely pay dividends. Additionally;
investing in some preventative measures to stop or lessen
premature aging due to things you have no control over are a good
idea. Things such as auxiliary fuel fi ltration to protect against
contamination, or an improved air intake system, or a catch can to
lessen the effects of EGR.”
