Where’s Moonee Ponds: Moonee Ponds is an inner north-
western suburb of Melbourne.

from the railway station or a quick tram ride from Melbourne.
Who plays host: On your arrival at the store, you will be greeted
by Joanne, who has many years of experience and is always
ready to help you.

Worth visiting because: We are a shop well worth visiting,
especially if you’re looking for inspiration, as the walls and
shelves are lined with completed samples to get you inspired.
We stock a large range of patchwork fabrics, embroidery and
cross-stitch linens and Aida cloth, embroidery threads and
ribbons, including stranded DMC, Cottage Garden Threads,
Threadworx, Cosmo and Finca Perle in sizes 3, 5, 8, 12 and 16.
There is also a large variety of kits, patterns, books and notions
for stitching, painting, beading and patchwork on of er. Why
not join in a class for a fun time and make new friends who
share your passion? There are lots of classes, including Sit
and Stitch, BOM and UFO classes.
What we recommend: We recommend Melissa Grant’s
terrific One Day in May patterns, particularly Daisy Dance


  • Needlework Keep, which is a really pretty way to store your
    sewing essentials, with multiple pockets. There is a home for
    your scissors, needles, threads and more. Pattern and kit,
    including all fabrics, felted wool and Cottage Garden Threads,
    is available for $45 (plus p&h) or the pattern with iron-on
    transfers, $17.50 (plus p&h).

Where’s Eltham:Eltham is 20km north-east of Melbourne’s
CBD, in the heart of the Diamond Valley, on your way to the
Yarra Valley Wine District.
Where in Eltham: The Quilt Shop is located at 2/38 Bridge St,
Eltham. To get there, turn left on Main Road, head straight
through the roundabout and we are the first driveway on your
left (opposite Bunnings).
Who plays host: Pop in and catch up with co-owners Sharon
and Alison – they can help you with all your stitching needs.


Worth visiting because: We of er an extensive range of bright
fabrics, including Kaf e Fassett, Alison Glass and Tilda, to name
just a few. We have a wonderful wall of paper piecing shapes
and notions, and don’t forget to have a seat in our reading
corner, to check out our large collection of books (aka our
‘Husband Drop-of Point’). We have the full range of Cosmo
threads and an ever-increasing selection of the beautiful
Cottage Garden Threads. We’re also one of the few shops in
Australia to stock Chenille-It Blooming Bias. This new and easy
technique adds texture to your quilts and doesn’t require
endless cutting. We have a fantastic spacious classroom, where
you can participate in one of our many classes on of er
throughout the year or you can book our room for your sewing
groups to Sit’n’Sew. If you let us know in advance that you’re
visiting with a group, we might even cook you a batch of scones.
What we recommend: We’re in love with Chenille-It Blooming
Bias, and so are our customers. We have the full range of
colours in stock and now have our own original designs that
were just released at Australasian Quilt Convention (AQC).
