FÊTE/LIFE / During the cooler months, it’s human
nature to yearn for a sanctuary. More often than not it’s
the simple, personal details that create a sense of
comfort and belonging in the home.
For some, living in the hustle and bustle of the inner
city means creating a home where that irst step through
the front door ofers a sense of calm and relaxation.
Layers of textures and the inclusion of subtle, personal
nuances bring a warmth that can't be replicated through
designer pieces alone. here is something charming
and inviting about a mix of high and low, old and new
and taking delight in the fact that each piece has been
included on its own merit... perhaps it brings functionality
to the home, or is admired for its pure form, or brings
sentimental value and character to a space.
Homes surrounded by the beauty of open space, often
rely on clever design to take advantage of the tranquillity
of the outdoors with very little need to over-complicate
the interior.
As we reect on what makes our homes and our lives
unique and special, it is evident that it is not always
the grand and expensive that achieve the best ambience.
Whilst we all strive to earn and subsequently spend
more on the ever-elusive wishlist, it is often those who
have had to be resourceful who create the homes that
we most admire.
