ENZED CENTRAL MUSCLE CARS NEWS

W

hen we ran an update on the build of
Craig Boote’s ’69 Ford Mustang, we had
no idea just how impressive it’d look completed.
The car hit the track for shakedown laps in late
November, and, despite a few power-steering
issues, it was brutally quick from the get-go.
Within moments, videos and photos of the car had
gone viral, and, once you’ve heard the glorious
sound of the Marsh Motorsport–built motor, you’ll
understand why.
Further testing took place at Hampton Downs

not long afterwards, and, while the team were still
plagued with a low speed power-steering issue,
they got enough laps in to enter round three of the
2017–’18 Enzed Central Muscle Cars (CMC) series —
which you can read about elsewhere in this issue.
While successful, the debut event wasn’t without
issue, as the power-steering problem returned,
causing Craig to arm-wrestle with the car as well as
battle for front end grip. Being a newcomer to the
field, Craig started off at the back of the grid for the
first two races. However, on race one, he worked

his way to an impressive 14th place mid race, the
car proving to be a bullet in a straight line. Sadly, a
spin saw him finish in 24th.
With race two called off, the team had time
to investigate the issues, and speedway driver
Pat Westbury was called on to help with the
steering, the result being a completely different
vehicle for races three and four.
Now that Craig’s training wheels are off, and he’s
getting comfortable behind the wheel, we’d say there
are certainly some podium finishes in his future.

hile horsepower is always considered the key to success, weight is every bit as important. Over
the first few rounds of this season, each competing vehicle was weighed to ensure it stayed
above the 1450kg minimum for both classes. Here’s how some — not all — of them stacked up.
