Above: Since we featured his Plymouth Cuda a few
months ago, Jim McIndoe has been a busy boy.
He’s pulled the 327ci small block and four-speed
manual out of his ’56 Chev 210 two-door post
sedan, replacing them with a 454ci big block and
4L80E four-speed auto. The big block is topped
with a FiTech four-barrel throttle body, which Jim
says gives incredible throttle response and enough
grunt to smoke the tyres in top gear!
This ’68 Plymouth Road Runner is owned by Aaron Jones and is a bit of a rare bird. It was the first ’68
Road Runner to be finished in iconic Petty Blue, and one of only three known to exist. It’s been signed on the
dash by ‘The King’ himself, Richard Petty, and, although it isn’t quite as race ready as the B-body Mopars that
Petty raced back in the day, it can get out of its own way with a 383ci big block for motorvation!

your taste is for flatheads, Strombergs, and steel

The diversity in style continued right across the
display, which included unrestored American
classics, bulked-up muscle cars, low-riders and
bombs, mildly modified streeters, the odd kustom,
and a handful of Australian and British classics.
A collection of motorcycles was displayed down
on the lower level of the reserve, while several
retro caravans occupied space on the grassy
upper level — a sure-fire way to guarantee a chill
day for the owners. As far as car shows go, things
can’t get much more lavish than being able to
check it all out, then retire back to the caravan
and enjoy a sit-down and a nice cuppa. It’s a trend
that’s becoming increasingly popular and for
good reason.
Nor were the kids forgotten — they got to enjoy
a whole lot of free entertainment, including a
bouncy castle — none of which is without cost to
the event organizers.
Of course, as you’ll know if you’ve been — or you
should be able to tell by the photos — this event
is something that can be enjoyed by everyone,
whether you head over just to check it out or
plan on taking a full-on classic car–and–caravan
combo. Thanks to the Stragglers Rod and
Kustom Club show organizers and hardworking
members who helped everything to run like
clockwork, this show is a fantastic deal for just
gold-coin entry!
