Elliott on a Mission
British Superstock 1000
campaigning Australian Brayden
Elliott has inked a deal that will see
him race the 2018 season on board
a Mission Racing BMW S1000RR.
The team finished fourth in the
2017 Stock 1000 championship and
Elliott, who finished 26th, said after
a tough 2017 season it’s a move that
will buoy his 2018 title hopes.
“From a season of learning last
year, I feel we can put together
a competitive package. I am
confident, hungry and excited to
get 2018 underway. I have learned
from mistakes, dusted myself off
and am now looking ahead to this
exciting new opportunity.” KB

Rulebook tweaks
double chances

The YMF R3 Cup has tweaked its
technical rules to bring it in line with
thoseoftheAustralian Supersport
300 category so Yamaha R3 riders
will be eligible to compete in both
categories on the same bike.
The Supersport 300s will
run as a support category to all
seven rounds of the 2018 ASBK
Championship, while the five-
round R3 Cup skips Round 3 (SA)
and Round 4 (NT) of the series. KB

NZ Suzuki Series
Taupo’s Scott Moir has won the
2017 Suzuki Series after finishing
on the podium at all six races in the
three-rounds championship.
Moir started strongly, taking
both wins at the first round held at
Taupo’s Bruce McLaren Motorsport
Park on Sunday 10 December. He
retained the series lead after Round
2 held at Manfield Circuit Chris
Amon on 17 December, where he
finished third and second, while
Daniel Mettam and Sloan Frost
both celebrated victories. The
series culminated at the popular
Whanganui Cemetery Circuit on
Boxing Day where he claimed a
victory in the opening race followed
by a second place behind race two
winner Jay Lawrence. KB

will see the addition of the
inauguralAustralianround,set
torunalongsidethethirdround
of the Australian Superbike
Championship, due to be held
at South Australia’s all-new The
Bend Motorsport Park between
22-25 April.
“Bringing the ARRC to
Australiaissomethingthathas
been in Motorcycling Australia’s
plans since 2014 and to finally
getthemhereisahugeboostfor
ourASBKchampionship,”MA’s
CEOPeterDoylerevealed.
The combination of the
twoeventsandtheexpanded
schedulewillresultinafour-
dayprograminsteadofthe
conventional three-day affair,
an outcome which the state’s
tourism minister Leon Bignell
(pictured) says will be great for
the economy.
“[It] is expected to attract
more than 30,000 people to the
Murraylands tourism region
andinjectover$7millioninto
the South Australian economy,”


Bignall said at the official
announcement, where ASBK
stars Daniel Falzon and Troy
Bayliss were both present.
South Australian rider Falzon
said he is looking forward to the
April event.
“I am super-excited to finally
be able to compete in Australia’s

premier national superbike
championship (ASBK) in front
of a home crowd at The Bend
Motorsport Park.”
The event will be will be held
on the new facility’s 18-turn
4.95km International Circuit. For

MOTORCYCLING AUSTRALIA HAS
releaseditsprovisionalcalendar
of dates and locations for this
year’s Australian Superbike
Championship.
The 2018 ASBK series will be a
seven-round affair, kicking off on
the same weekend as the WSBK
season opener at Phillip Island.
As it did in 2017, Round 1 of the
Australian series will appear as
a support category for the World
Superbike championship, with
the domestic Supersport and 300
Supersport classes also on the
event program.
Goulburn’s Wakefield Park will
be the only New South Wales
venue, with no round slated for
Sydney Motorsport Park. Both
Tasmania and Western Australia
also miss out on hosting a round
this year, with WA’s Barbagallo
Raceway still not approved for
motorcycle racing.
