  1. L I GH T D U TY
Available in 3000 and 4000 sizes, Shimano’s new Exsence spinning reels pull
their weight in light-line saltwater situations, the company says. Exsence reels
feature a cold-forged Hagane gear system and X-Protect to enhance water resis-
tance. The saltwater-safe magnesium Hagane body features a magnesium rotor.
The 3000MHG weighs 7.1 ounces, comes with a 6-to-1 gear ratio and handles 10-
to 20-pound braid. The 8.6-ounce 4000MXG cranks line with a 6.2-to-1 gear ratio
and also handles 10- to 20-pound braid. The reels cost $539.99 and $549.99.

  2. SUN SHIELD
Columbia’s Solar Shade printed long-sleeve tee
offers new Omni-Shade Sun Defl ector technology,
which actively defl ects sunlight away from the body
for better cooling and protection. Columbia adds
small defl ector dots to the Omni-Shade fabric to help
protect against harmful UVA and UVB rays. Available
in men’s and women’s styles, colors and prints
    — including digital camo (pictured) — the shirts carry
the Skin Cancer Foundation’s seal of recommendation
    and cost $70.

  3. DIGITAL DASH
JL Marine Systems has introduced the Power-Pole Vision
marine-accessory-management and multimedia tablet. The touch-
screen Vision, which runs on the Android platform, allows multiple
boat accessories to be connected and controlled by one device.
Anything that features on/off capability can be adjusted through
the unit with dimmers, presets and timers. The six-outlet Power-
Pole CM-I/O-6 switch allows multiple inputs, integrating operation
of accessories using the C-Monster 2.0 protocol. Vision is NMEA
capable (for capturing engine data) and can utilize Wi-Fi or a cell-
phone hotspot to enable apps and connect to the Web. Enhanced
map-viewing technology allows anglers to navigate with charts and
    satellite imagery. It costs $1,595.
