Whyte have gone with something new, something
updated and something refreshed with their 2018
range of dual suspension bikes.
The new comes in the form of the S-150 which
is designed for speed and features 150mm of
travel and 29er wheels. You’ll also get a slack 65.
degrees head angle, allied to a relatively short
435mm chainstay for such a long-travel bike. If
you need plenty of traction then 27.5 x 2.8” tyres
can be retro-fitted with no problems.
Whyte designer Ian Alexander claims the S-
will perform unlike anything else with 29-inch
wheels – and as you’ll see from our in-depth
review on page 72 you’ll feel like you can go as
hard as you want, or simply ride it all day, every
day on any type of terrain.
The G-170 is an update of the tried and tested
enduro-specific G-160, with longer chainstays and
170mm of travel at both ends thanks to the Quad

triangle, although there is also a budget-friendly

challenging for honours in the EWS next season, as

which gets a modest refresh – no bad thing given it
has already proved itself super-capable of providing
a whole heap of fun on Australian trails for the past
three years since it first arrived on our shores. The
short and stiff back end remains, but SRAM Eagle
groupsets are now available as well as new RockShox
and Fox suspension set-ups.Also on offer from Whyte in 2018 is the 905 hardtail,
