W

elcome back to the
Liberty Stadium for
another very important
home game.
I would like to welcome Alan
Pardew as well as the players and
staff of West Bromwich Albion.
Like us, they have had a difficult
start to the season and will be
hungry to get a result today.
Alan is an experienced Premier
League manager who I am sure will
turn West Brom into a very tough
outfit to play against.
Federico Fernandez has re-joined
his team-mates this week after the
very sad passing of his father.
We are very happy to have
him back and I am glad
to say that he is
doing okay at
what is a
very

difficult time in his life.
He is back available for selection
and we are glad to have him. Fede
will get all the support he needs
from the club.
In our last home game, against
Bournemouth, we showed some
really positive signs.
We got brilliant support from you,
our fans, in that game and that
really helped the players.
The things we did on the pitch were
much more like what we need to be
doing and we were very close to
getting the victory.
We then had a totally different game
against Chelsea. The margin of
defeat was very fine and the players
gave another big effort.
We then went to Stoke and suffered
a more disappointing defeat.
We took the lead and looked good
for 30 minutes or so – we were in
control of the game.
We then conceded two really bad
goals and we went
downhill from there.
We have got
to be

better at dealing with those
moments of adversity in a game.
We have got to be more resilient
and more positive when things
don’t go our way, because
inevitably you will face difficult
spells in games.
I can assure everyone that the
players are working in a very hard,
focused and determined way on the
training ground. We are all
desperate to turn around our form
and results.
I cannot say we have been really
unlucky this season. Our
performances have not been good
enough and that’s why we are in the
position we are in.
However, we still look ahead
believing we can produce better
performances and take more
points.
We have four games to go until the
halfway point in the season and we
can still end up in a better position
than at the same stage last year.
It’s vitally important that we get a
couple of wins before we get to
halfway.
We have the opportunity to get one
of those today and we will do our
very best to take it.
