CATERPILLAR is ofering a dynamic gas
blending retroit kit for the Caterpillar 785C
mining truck that allows engines to run on
both diesel and liqueied natural gas.
DGB lowers fuel costs while maintaining
diesel power and transient performance.
Caterpillar Gas Engine Business
commercial manager Steve Igoe said the
company had recently completed validation
of the 785C retroit kit.
“hekitwillallowcustomerstoreducefuel
costs signiicantly by using LNG,” he said.
“Natural gas and LNG ofer both economic
andenvironmentalbeneitstothemining
industry.”
he 785C retroit kit is the irst DGB

system Caterpillar has ofered for mining
machines. It will be available for purchase in
JanuaryfromtheglobalCatdealernetwork.
Caterpillar plans to ofer additional DGB
systems in the future.
“he retroit kit is built on proven Cat
DGB technology and has been used in the oil
and gas industry since 2013,” Igoe said.
“heretroitkitofersapeaksubstitution
of up to 85% of diesel with natural gas and
gets the same performance, reliability and
payloadasadieseltruck.
“his will allow our customers to realise a
20% to 40% saving on fuel costs, which can
represent millions of dollars each year for a
large mine.”

’TIS almost the season to be maintaining
and this tool may be just the thing for that
maintenance engineer that has everything.
Enerpac has released the new range of
Sync Grip Pullers.
hese tools feature synchronised
movement of their locking jaws for
simultaneous engagement and greater safety.
he Sync Grip Pullers come into their
own when a job requires something to be
gripped and pulled of a shat. hink a host
of gears, pulleys and other shat-mounted
components have to be speedily removed
from static and mobile plant.
Enerpac national sales manager Darryl
Lange said a safety and workplace beneit
was that the pullers would even grip on
surfaces where normal pullers would slip of

  • for example on tapered bearings.
he SG-Series Sync Grip Pullers – in
    mechanical and hydraulic conigurations
up to 45 tonnes capacity – optimise safety,
simplicity and speed of removal of bearings,
    bushings, gears, sleeves, wheels, ly-wheels,
    sprockets and other shat-mounted items.
“hese simple, safe, swit and easily
applied tools oten mean that one worker can
do a job that oten requires two with other
    tools,” Lange said.
“hey do away entirely with outdated
heat and impact processes that are not only
inherently more hazardous, but which can also
damage valuable parts and cause further delay
in projects where time is already precious.”
For loads up to 20t, the SGM-series
    mechanical pullers provide an economical

and eicient option, with all the same high-
strength features as the hydraulic option.
For more complex tasks, up to 45t,
the MPS-series hydraulic pullers ofer
hydraulically applied pulling force through
a detachable hydraulic cylinder to increase
pulling capacity and reduce operator fatigue.
“heir smooth, simple and safe operation
means that, instead of impact hazards
created by removal methods using hammers
and levers – with risks to both the workpiece
and maintenance personnel – Sync Grip
Pullers draw parts smoothly and precisely
without the need for heating or prying,”
Lange said.
“Sync Grip Pullers are the latest evolution
of Enerpac’s advanced puller technology.
“Being able to facilitate simultaneous
engagement of each jaw adds an additional
level of safety and reliability to a very
common industrial process.”
